The Grov Grow Pod is a fully automated indoor growing system for commercial scale animal feed. After significant research into various building options Sprung was chosen for its cost effectiveness, thermal efficiency and speed of delivery. Grov considers Sprung a partner bringing a comprehensive solution to market that includes growing system and controlled environment that can be delivered anywhere in the world.

MICHAEL HURST

When my family immigrated to Canada from South Africa, we immediately noticed an opportunity to supply organic produce and fresh quality fish. We established Alberta Tilapia and Aquaponics and began growing plants utilizing a 3,000 square foot Sprung Structure and the natural waste from the fish as fertilizer for the plants. Today we have a growing business selling Tilapia and a wide variety of produce. We are best known for a brand of African Cherry Tomatoes that are in extremely high demand.

GERRIT SWANPOEL

ARK is responsible for the day to day operation of a 4,200 ft2 (390m2) natural light Sprung Greenhouse based in Aldersyde, Alberta. This year-round facility provides fresh produce to the Sprung Group of Companies cafeteria serving 120 people daily. In combination with my son Jordan, we have implemented any number of technologies and proven the benefits of growing under a Sprung. The air tightness of the building envelope provides a space that is cost effectively heat or cooled, even in a climate like Alberta where we experience extreme cold. We have implemented aquaponics to provide another source of revenue. Passive heating and cooling ensure we maintain our energy bills to an absolute minimum. Solar PV, although minimal in terms of output, provide a redundant energy in case of power outages.
